The 5 R's: A simple system to eliminate inflammation and create balance in digestion

Most dis-ease is caused by an accumulation of waste in the body from improper elimination. This causes toxic retention and problems with health. It is a natural process for the body to detoxify and eliminate and your body is created to work and function at optimal levels - so listen to your body. So many of us are so committed to our unhealthy lifestyles that we ignore the signs our bodies give us to indicate an issue. It's much easier to take a pharma pill (or several), but the problem is, it will NEVER go away until you deal with the cause. Those drugs just mask the symptoms, they do NOT deal with the root cause why you are having the symptoms. The process of cleansing and detoxifying your body is very simple, relatively inexpensive and HIGHLY EFFECTIVE! Your body is a monster machine, and given the right environment, it can usually heal itself.

REBALANCE
We rebalance by removing by reducing inflammation. From last week you understand how food sensitivities can cause stress and inflammation on the body. So, too can all other kinds of stress: environmental, chemical, emotional, physical, etc. So during this phase, you will remove as much stress to your system as you can. You begin by removing processed foods (boxed/canned goods), gluten, dairy, eggs, soy, peanuts, wheat, alcohol, caffeine and sugar. Try to support your mental stress by engaging in a meditative activity - tai chi, yoga, breathing. Learning to cope with stress can help rebalance your gut by supporting better digestion. This stage is NOT easy and you may want to seek the help of a nutritional counselor, therapist or hypnotherapist.

REMOVE
At this stage, we strive to remove all toxins that are causing an immune response. This can include a list of offending bacteria, such as candida, and parasites. This is where we begin the elimination diet to rid our diets of sugar, corn, alcohol, dairy, gluten grains, soy and many other reactive foods. Any food that you regularly eat should also be eliminated.

REPLACE
It may be necessary to nutritionally supplement to support proper digestion. Common supplements are HCL, fiber and digestive enzymes. We want to support the liver and kidneys during this stage.

REINOCULATE
Now we need to reintroduce good flora to the gut with FOS and probiotics (lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidobacteria bifidus).

REPAIR
This is when we provide nutritional support for the healing of the GI System through nutritional support to specifically regenerate the gastrointestinal lining, which contain the most biochemally active and growing cells in they body (mucosal cells). This is the most important stage.

The 5 R Plan is not intended to be a quick fasting to lose weight. This program is created to ease stress, eliminate toxins and reduce inflammation to encourage optimal health.
